Ephesians 6:10-17 Truth and Righteousness

Last week we studied and talked about spiritual warfare in general. We discussed the important action of standing firm in the strength and might of God (not our own). It's His armor we wear, not our own. We talked about the enemy and what the Bible says about him.

This week we will begin our study of the pieces of the armor of God. Last week you numbered each armor piece. Our focus this week will be on the Belt of Truth and the Breastplate of Righteousness.

Word Studies:
I want you to look at the words truth and righteousness in the greek. Using Blue letter Bible do a word study on these two words and any other words that stick out to you.

Cross References:
As you look a the Word Studies for the words truth and righteousness I want you to scroll down to the bottom of the page and look at the cross references. Read through the verses and find 4-6 verses/passages that help us understand more about the Belt of Truth and the Breastplate of Righteousness.

Ephesian 6:10-17 Put on Your Armor

Hey Ladies, I am going to ask you to walk into the next few weeks with wisdom. We will be talking about spiritual warfare, so be on the look out for warfare in your life.

Read Ephesians 6:10-17 and mark these words: armor and stand firm. Read back through it, underline and number each armor piece.

Before we dive into the armor pieces, I want us to ask why and how about the armor as a whole. So this week our main focus is verses 10-13. Read through verses 10-17 and write anything that answers why or how about the armor in general (don't look at the specific pieces of the armor).

Word Studies:
Look at verses 10-13 and do word studies on the words or phrases that stick out to you. Remember our goal is to understand what the text means, so we want to understand what we are being called to do and want to study it deeper.

Cross References:
Look up these verses and write down what you learn about spiritual warfare and the enemy. Ask yourself how does the enemy work:
  • Job 1
  • John 8:44
  • Ephesians 4:27
  • James 4:7-10
  • 1 Peter 5:8-9
  • Rev 12:9

Ephesians 6:9

Hey ladies! Last week I gave you the task of doing all of your studying on your own. I am super proud of those of you who tried! You did such a great job! This week will be very similar. (YOU CAN DO IT)

Read: Ephesians 6:1-9. Ask yourself what do you learn about masters?

Listing
Make a list on what you learn about masters and any instructions for them

Key Words
What key words stick out to you in this passage? I pray you are becoming more confident each week. What words describe an action, are descriptive, or bring meaning into the text? Look up those words.

Cross References
I want you to look up verses on masters. In Blue letter Bible go to where you would do a typical Word Study on the word master. Scroll down. Look through and read the verses (there are a lot of pages of verses). Not all the verses apply to our context. Read through and find 3-5 verses (from different books) that help you understand the text in Ephesians 6:9. Remember we are looking for what we can learn about masters. Do you find any verses that give more instructions to masters? Are there any verses that give you context to who is a master? Do you see any big picture verses that connect to God or Jesus?

Great job ladies!! Can't wait to see you on Thursday!!!!
